Frankfurt Auto Show 2009 – Convertibles and Coupes

In just a few days, the Frankfurt Auto Show 2009 will kick off. After a long gloom in the auto industry, manufacturers and consumers are hoping that the showcase will brighten some lights for the sales figures.

Like any other motor shows, Frankfurt and the rest of the world will be in for a surprise. Here is a preview of the convertibles and coupes that will be on the spotlight:

Ferrari 458 Italia

The red stallion will be unveiling a new supercar in the form of a new 458. The 458 Italia will sport a V-8 with 4.5L displacement and outputs a monster 570 horsepower on a combo with 400 pound-feet of torque. The powerplant is coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox which can zoom the Ferrari 458 Italia from 0 to 60mph in a little below 3.4 seconds. Need to ask for the top speed? It is 202mph.

Reventon Roadster from Lamborghini

If there is smoke, there must be fire. It is not yet confirmed if we will really see a Lambo Reventon Roadster in Frankfurt but most likely we will. Talk about uber luxury that there will only be at max 10 of this car which will go into production. At 670 horsepower coming out of a V-12, its price tag speaks at $1.65 million.

2011 SLS AMG from Mercedes-Benz

The 2011 SLS AMG is the new gullwing from Mercedes-Benz. It will take the reign from the SLR Roadster as the leader of the pack. This car doesn’t have a problem going 0 to 60 in just 3.8 seconds

Audi R8 Spyder

This will be the convertible variant of the sportscar from Audi and will most likely have a V-10 in its engine bay.

The Mercedes Concept BlueZero: How Hot Is That?

I think I have fallen in love. It is going to have to be an unrequited love, I fear, because no Mercedes will love you back unless you can actually afford it. And, of course, even though this is still a concept — the Mercedes Concept BlueZero, to be exact — you know it is going to be seriously dear when it finally comes out.

Still … man, what I would not give for a piece of that. I even want it in just this color. It makes the BlueZero look somehow radioactive. There is something inexplicably Hulk like about it, I don’t know what it is.

The car is also clean; you will be able to get it propelled by pure electricity, a fuel cell, or as a hybrid. What could be better than that, right?

Oh, maybe if it went on sale for something like twenty grand. Other than that, it is perfection as is.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe

Mercedes SL550 (2009)

The Mercedes Sl550 is always one of the hottest Benzes on the road, and this 2009 Mercedes SL550 is no exception. Mercedes is announcing it as a BMW 6-Series killer and looks-wise I think they’ve nailed it. Well done Mercers, now let’s see if it actually sells!

1963 Mercedes 300 SE

Jeezes christ this is one hot vintage ride. The 300SE was one of those cars that just said: “I’m one classy dude” back in the sixties — and I guess it still does. This is the 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Cabriolet, and it looks like it’s in perfect shape. Absolutely beautiful.

This is probably the sexiest of all Mercedes’ available to the public right now: the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Price tag is a little over half a million, which might not be worth it considering the type of dream car you can get with that kind of cash — but hey, if you’ve got millions, why not?
